Flock Cameras
We deserve a say in how our communities are watched, which is why I would support a state bill that requires a formal Municipal Surveillance Technology Ordinance before any town can deploy surveillance tools like Flock cameras. This legislation requires local town councils to pass a explicit, public-facing local law before installing mass surveillance networks. By forcing towns to enact a formal ordinance rather than quietly signing corporate contracts, this bill guarantees residents a mandatory 30-day public notice, an open floor at a dedicated public hearing, and the legal right under Connecticut law to petition that ordinance to a town-wide ballot referendum. True public safety requires public consent, and this ordinance-first approach ensures that local voters hold the ultimate power at the ballot box.
