ENHANCING VETERAN BENEFITS
As Your State House Representative, I Will:
Improve the care and benefits for veterans through a combination of healthcare access reforms, tax relief, housing support, workforce initiatives, and modernization of state veteran services through these strategic solutions.
Create a Connecticut Veterans Affordability Agenda
Focus on tax relief, housing assistance, utility assistance, healthcare access, transportation support.
Expand Property Tax Relief for Veterans
increase the state veteran property tax exemption,
create additional exemptions for combat-disabled veterans,
reimburse municipalities so towns are not financially penalized,
allow income-adjusted “circuit breaker” relief for lower-income veterans.
This is especially important in suburban communities where housing costs and tax burdens are high.
Expand Housing Assistance for Veterans
create additional transitional housing,
expand rental assistance,
incentivize veteran-preference affordable housing projects,
streamline supportive housing approvals,
strengthen legal aid programs for eviction prevention.
Improve Long-Term Care for Aging Veterans
expand state veterans home capacity,
improve in-home care support,
increase caregiver assistance programs,
expand dementia and Alzheimer’s support services.
